RednBlue has born out of the requirement to enhance management of the platform where the specific requirements of IT, and the finite functionality of Engineering meet.

Experience has proven that the resilience designed and built into IT hardware and the electrical infrastructure can be negated at the final connections within the cabinet. Unplanned down time is usually experienced not by the failure of both electrical distribution paths, but by the failure of one electrical distribution path and incorrect final connections within the cabinet.

On analysing the root cause it was identified that often no management system existed for the entire electrical distribution system. This included the final connections within the cabinet. Where a system was present it was not standard across data centre's, cabinets and infrastructure .

By introducing a standard methodology and colour coding to the entire electrical distribution system & cabinet connections, gaps in resilience can be easily indentified and removed. Therefore significantly reducing the risk of unplanned downtime.

Once implemented, only a simple, periodic visual audit would be required to ensure future compliance and greater peace of mind from the risk of unplanned down time.
